Speaker

Lizzy Smallwood

Lizzy Smallwood is married to Simon. They have three children - Sam [18] Ailie [15] and Beatrice [6] They have been ministering at a small urban church in Dagenham on the Essex/ East London border for 20 years. Lizzy divides her time between being a wife and mum, a part time teacher and doing some youth and women’s work in the church along with a lot of cooking. She is never happier than when she is teaching women the Bible and loves opportunities like the Northern Women’s convention to preach and apply God’s word to Christian women in the 21st Century. Her favourite way to relax is with a cup of tea and a good book.

Seminars

  1. Prayer: Saved by Grace

    12pm

A seminar on prayer- does the idea make your heart sink or jump for joy? Together we will explore the extraordinary opportunity we’ve been given to talk to our Heavenly Father.

    Lorna Cudmore

  2. Included by Grace

    12pm

We know the gospel is for everyone but sometimes we neglect those who we nd challenging to communicate with. Families who have children with learning disabilities can in particular nd our churches dif cult places to be. Lynn and Kerry will help us understand the challenges families face and help us learn how we can include everyone with the glorious gospel of Christ.

    Lynn McCann and Kerry Lawrence

  3. The Plausibility Problem (1/2)

    12pm

In a sex obsessed culture how can we take what the Bible says about same-sex attraction seriously? Its all very well to say that the Bible is clear when it talks about these issues but is it realistic? Isn’t it unfair to those who struggle with this issue? Ed will show us that the reason the Bibles teaching seems hard in this area is because of missteps that we have taken in understanding the Christian life. This seminar is in two parts.

    Ed Shaw

  4. Extending Grace

    12pm

We live in multi cultural communities but have very few links with others who have different backgrounds to ours. Our speaker converted from Islam and is now working with churches to help them reach their Muslim neighbours with the good news of Jesus. She will help us consider how we can get alongside Muslim women in our communities and extend God’s grace to them.

  5. The Persecution Problem

    2pm

Some parts of the world are very dif cult places for Christians to be. Open Doors exists to strengthen the church in the most hostile of places. Marion will update us so we can learn how to support the suffering church. This seminar will give us an opportunity to pray for our persecuted brothers and sisters.

    Marion Walker

  6. The Money Problem

    2pm

The Bible says it’s the root of all kinds of evil and makes it hard for us to enter the kingdom of God but where would we be without it?! Whether you’re a spendthrift or a Scrooge, Jesus offers us freedom from the false promises of money and freedom to live generously.

    Catriona Senior

  7. The Plausibility Problem (2/2)

    2pm

In a sex obsessed culture how can we take what the Bible says about same-sex attraction seriously? Its all very well to say that the Bible is clear when it talks about these issues but is it realistic? Isn’t it unfair to those who struggle with this issue?
