Welcome & Session 1
Singing in the main hall
Liz Cox works as the Minister for Women and Community at St Giles' Derby. She moved to Derby from Sydney, Australia in 2004 with her husband David and their three children Rachel, Olivia and Jordan. Since then their family has expanded to include two sons in law, twin grandchildren and a cat. Liz likes drinking tea, watching films and series, cooking and eating out. Most of all she enjoys talking, and especially talking about the Bible.
Our seminars will inspire us to live for Jesus, and to help others live for Him too. Choose two out of the five seminars on offer and we will schedule them so you can attend both. This year we are including a special track for teenage women 14 years and above.
The word’s ‘I forgive you’ bring sweet relief to us, yet we find them so hard or even impossible to utter ourselves. Come and explore how a growing understanding of God’s character can enable us to be sacrificial and generous forgivers.
How can I read John for myself?
The book of John is a large gospel with lots going on in every chapter - where do we begin in understanding it as a book? Come and find out the way this great book works and how we can see God through reading it.
The unexpected path
Life doesn’t always go to plan! Can you and how do you survive and even thrive when life takes an unexpected and painful path? How can you lament, worship, pray and hope and help others to do so when facing grief at the loss of the life you expected?
Salt and Light
We know that we are called to share Jesus with others, but where do we begin? If you have ever felt like a failure at evangelism, struggled to turn a conversation towards the things that really matter, or if the word ‘evangelism’ terrifies you – think again! Sharing Jesus is the best gift we can offer anyone.
Loving God’s family well
God saves us to be part of his family, a family full of people at different ages and stages, from different cultures and backgrounds, with different struggles and weaknesses. This seminar is a chance to look at how we can do life together in a diverse, dysfunctional yet God-given and close knit community.
Young Women’s Track
NEW FOR 2018!
Following Jesus’ call to live a beautiful and counter-cultural life in school and college can be challenging when compromise is easy and living for Jesus can seem like the hardest option. This year for the first time we have a seminar track specifically for you: its designed to help you grow in faith and confidence in Jesus so that you can enjoy living for Him both today, and into the future. For anyone aged 14-17.
